The poem is inspired by the "Disaster" (or Tower) card that came up in my reading.
I wrote this with the intent of reclaiming my power from a situation that made me feel powerless / disempowered.
our love was a tower
she rose so high she met all the stars
& i could build a home with you
could hold my dreams livelihood safety
the tower was my anchor
launched me bigger wider deeper
but one day she couldn't stretch so far
started keeping me away
& i could only travel so far
for my life-force was inside
the tower was something i outgrew
but wasn't willing to dismantle myself
our love was something i outgrew
but wasn't willing to dismantle myself
lightning strikes
when air agrees with light agrees with wounds
to make a deal with healing
more important than familiar
lightning strikes
& that thing that was holding you is gone
what is abandonment one day
opportunity the next
go through the rubble and keep what you want
bury the rest
reclaim your power from the disaster
the invisible barrier you once couldn't get beyond
now say it out loud,
my life force is no longer contained in this thing
that can't move with me
grow with me
it couldn't go where i want to go
say it,
now i can go
